I know I'm going to get flamed but here it is... my rant... My top three players are Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, and Dennis Chambers, and Buddy Rich isn't in my top 10 or even close. I usually dont get into Bonham, Moon, peart, Ringo any of those legends, but Ginger Baker is one of the most unique technically skilled and musical players I have ever heard.

THANK YOU! It is litterally in my oppinion the best solo ever.I love how he keeps the tempo with the high hat almost the whole time.

I assume your refering to Buddy Rich. Your kinda comparing Apples to Oranges are you. One jazz drummer to a rock drummer. Buddy Rich is the best all around drummer of all time inclulding John Bonham & Moby Dick solo

His bloody eyes are closed the whole time then aren't they?

I can see where most people, today, would think this drum solo is no big deal. You have got to remember that this solo was done in the 60s. It was the first rock drum solo that really had any structure. Before Ginger came along I was a really big Keith Moon fan. I still am a Moon fan. I think that Keith and Ginger would be in my top 5 rock drummers of all time. I saw Keith in concert twice, and he was unbelievable. Keith, unlike Ginger, was one constant drum solo. Just an opinion.

You dont see them used much anymore, but back in the 60's a lot of guys drilled the rim and placed steel rivets in the holes, to get that sizzzz

it just goes to show you can play a clean refined TASTEFUL solo without having to resort to erratic rapid playing.

I think this solo was very musical in a way. I love Baker because when is doing a solo, he isn't just showing how fast he is. He show's what kind of MUSIC you can do with just a drumkit. He is a very entertaining drummer. Great solo!
