THat's part of the reason optimus got smashed. He was fighting half heartedly. When fighting megatron, optimus probably was hoping to reason with him, after all, they were co-rulers of cybertron.Earlier on, Prime took down bonecrusher easily, but that was probably because he wanted to stop the fight quickly before causing a catastrophe. Besides, he knew already that bonecrusher is the type that's "beyond reasoning" so there was no chance of avoiding the fight.
